The world stood still on Friday morning when Richard Carlton took his last breath. Richard grasped onto the hand of God as he let go of the hands of loved ones who surrounded him in his home in Fresno, California.
A man not easily described, Richard was known for his infectious smile and charming ways. Having never met a stranger, Richard’s absence will be felt my all who were blessed enough to have spent time in his presence.
Richard Allen Carlton was born on July 20, 1963 in in Hanford, CA. Richard grew up in a loving home in Lemoore, CA with his parents, Margaret Ann (Brooks) Carlton and Larry Alvin Carlton along with his brother, Douglas C. Carlton. Richard attended Lemoore High School and played football during his tenure at LHS.
Richard had many passions and loved to share his stories of life experiences with anyone he met. A caretaker at heart, Richard could often be found doing something philanthropic for anyone with a need. He had a special place in his heart for the elderly. A gifted artist, Richard spent his career creating unique works of art as the owner of a construction firm, “Carlton Construction”. Richard also shared a love for cooking and garnered accolades for those skills by all who had the good fortune to enjoy one of his personal favorite recipes.
Driven by his love for his family, Richard had little time for many hobbies other than fishing. Having fished in South America and throughout the United States, Richard was skilled at catching trout and had a deep love for the sport. When he was not fishing, Richard could be found spending time with his children…. Bradley, Tess and Christian Carlton. Perhaps his favorite pastime was spoiling his grandchildren …. Bella, Monroe, and Addison with love and laughter.
Of all the things most adored by those who knew Richard, his ability to love was perhaps what stood out the most. He had the heart of a child and never grew tired of encouraging the hopeless and helping others see the light in moments of great darkness. Without an unpretentious bone in his body, Richard found delight in the simplest things in life. Richard personified the purest form of unbridled love which touched the lives of everyone he knew.
Richard is survived by his parents--Larry and Margaret Carlton, his brother—Douglas C. Carlton, his children-- Bradley, Tess and Christian Carlton, and his grandchildren—Bella, Monroe, and Addison.
